Scary Wii memory problem .. and solution

After adding too many WiiWare using WAD Installer, I suddenly encountered a horrible problem: Block Open became zero, and even after I kept removing items from the memory, the open block is STILL ZERO. I have to admit that I was horrified.

Luckily, after kept removing stuff for while, suddenly the Blocks Open starts decrease. So I continue removed even more stuff from the Wii memory.

Eventually, I learned a few things:

  • Channels instead using WAD will render to useless if you tried to move them to SD card, which I think is totally fair. Stuff you actually brought should be able to move to SD card.
  • You can't even move back those channels you installed with WAD from SD card to Wii. Again, fair.
  • Regular channels like "Everybody vote channel" works OK on SD card.
  • Stuff you installed with WAD Manager should be uninstalled with WAD Manager.
  • You can get Error -1022 if you used up all the blocks. PLEASE don't leave WAD Manager and UNINSTALL some apps first or you won't be able to access the WAD manager again (until you free up enough blocks).
So that means you can only install so many WiiWare of Virtual Console using WAD installer. So be careful.

Similar to Channel, there's something you need to know about Save Game:

  • You cannot move 8 bit and 16 bit virtual console save game to SD card.
  • You CAN move 32 bit virtual conosle save game to SD card.
  • Back up your save game frequently
